The relational nature of behavioral health work means that successful outcomes depend upon the quality of interpersonal alliances with people receiving services. The challenge in these relationships is to be supportive, empathic, and understanding – and yet professional and clinical at the same time. How is it possible to maintain this balance? This class explores the nature of boundary issues in human services by looking at the different levels of relationship that the worker has to maintain through the lens of risk, and offers best practices for reducing the risk of boundary problems in the workplace.
This class has much of the same content as our previous Boundaries and Risk in Work Relationships class.
