Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Healing and cultivating posttraumatic growth

People who have suffered traumas may find it difficult or even impossible to talk about them. In some cases they are even unable to recall what has happened. This makes treatment difficult and can make a person look like they are not willing to address their problems. More recently, psychologists have termed the phrase Post Traumatic Growth to describe the process of recovery and ability to thrive because of their trauma. Human Service professionals who gain a better understanding of these elements can better serve this vulnerable population. This class explores these concepts and describes how treatments work.
