Bipolar Disorders

Supporting people through depressive and manic episodes

Description

Bipolar Disorder is a common, but likely underdiagnosed mental health condition with a high correlation with suicide and other health problems. It presents multiple contradictory symptoms and often occurs with other mental health problems and substance use. As a result, the professional or family member contends with a confusing array of treatment options and possibilities. This class offers ways to better work with the person to identify symptoms earlier and together make prevention and intervention plans.

  • Identify different symptoms and behaviors associated with bipolar disorders

  • Distinguish types of Bipolar Disorder based on symptom patterns

  • Identify practices and treatments that help prevent a manic/depressive episode
